The Rekindled Project
From two near-death pregnancies to a global ministry — Aderoju Tojola's voice carries a testimony that will move you. The Rekindled Project is her first offering to the world.
“I was not meant to be alive — but there is a God who rewrote my future.”
Her Story
“I was wheeled into the theatre, tears rolled down my cheeks. I was very scared — but there is a God whose works cannot be imitated.”
My name is Aderoju Tojola, and I have been favoured by God to be alive to tell you this story today. I am a Nigerian gospel minister, a wife, a mother — and a woman who has looked death in the face twice and lived to sing about it.
On 6 April 2024, God delivered me from the shackles of death when I was about to give birth to my second child. For my first birth, I had preeclampsia — also a near-death experience. Being aware of this, I had chosen a well-reviewed private hospital in Abuja to ensure more careful antenatal care. I had forgotten that only God is the most reliable physician.
During the final stages of pregnancy I developed a persistent cough that would not relent for weeks — a symptom of a serious underlying condition. The attending doctor, rather than investigating the root cause, continued with the wrong prescription. Then one routine antenatal check changed everything: my blood pressure was alarmingly high. Without an immediate caesarean, both my life and my baby’s were at risk.
The Chief Medical Doctor walked into the theatre and stopped the operation immediately. He saw the severe swelling in my legs — a sign of critical Edema. He said plainly: they did not have the facilities to manage what came after.
We were referred urgently to Federal Medical Centre Jabi. When we arrived late that night, the doctor who took my vitals was shaken. She said she did not understand how I was still standing, let alone conscious, based on my blood pressure reading.
I was rushed into emergency surgery. As the anaesthesia was administered, I was still faintly conscious. I heard the surgeon tell his colleagues he was afraid — that he could only be confident of saving one life: either the mother or the child. Tears ran silently down my face. I prayed. I surrendered.
I came out of that theatre alive. My baby came out alive. After two days in the intensive care unit, I was well enough to go home. One thing was certain: I was not meant to survive. But there is a God who brought me back, who rewrote my story, who gave me back my life — and my voice.
It is to this God that I dedicate the Rekindled Project. To proclaim, to every nation, how mighty He is.
The Music
Three songs. One testimony. A fire that was nearly extinguished — and then set ablaze for the world. This is the beginning of a global ministry.
Miracle Child · Great Are You Lord · What You Did
An expression of God's love and favour — and of how He rescued me from death. A medley that moves from awe to proclamation to personal testimony.
Written by Aderoju Tojola
A declaration of the power of God's mighty hands — especially in the moments that seem insurmountable. This song was born in the ICU recovery room.
Written by Aderoju Tojola
The final song in the trilogy — stepping out of the hospital, out of fear, and into purpose. Fully restored by the One who never lost you.
